Rachel Friend is responsible for Weber Shandwick’s network of offices across the UK. With a data-driven approach and earned ideas at the core, the agency offers a range of sector-led expertise and specialist capabilities to help clients solve complex communications challenges.
With over 20 years’ experience in the industry, Rachel has spearheaded social purpose and corporate responsibility campaigns for some of the world’s leading brands. She has been recognised as one of the top consumer PR professionals in the UK, and plays a key role in the industry as a member of the PRCA Board, on the Advisory Board of Global Women in PR, and as a former juror at Cannes Lions and eurobest.
Rachel was promoted to CEO of the UK and Ireland in 2018. Under her leadership, the agency has seen significant growth with new acquisitions and offers, delivering award-winning work across multiple categories. This year, Weber Shandwick was ranked 2nd in PRWeek’s top 150 UK agencies and industry recognition to date includes a Cannes Lion, three PRWeek Global awards and two EMEA SABRE campaign honours.
Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, Rachel was Head of Consumer PR for British supermarket Sainsbury’s, working with the communications and marketing teams to deliver brand, product, CSR and local PR.
