LONDON – James Nester has joined Weber Shandwick as UK Executive Creative Director with a brief to raise creativity throughout the agency whilst further bolstering the agency’s digital and social credentials.

Nester previously led We Are Social’s creative department for two and a half years, winning numerous creative and industry awards during his time there.

This year he judged the Cyber category at Cannes Lions 2015 and has been recognised several times at the Festival for his work – most notably for ‘The Gnome Experiment’, the world’s most awarded PR campaign 2013 (Holmes Report) and the world’s most awarded direct campaign 2012 (Big Won Report).

Reporting to Adam Clyne, Head of Digital, EMEA, Nester is the latest senior hire to join Weber Shandwick as the agency continues to scale its digital operation.

“The work I admire – and indeed my own best work – has been hugely elevated by PR. So naturally, the move to one of the world’s greatest PR firms feels right for me,” said Nester.

He continued: “With the rapid explosion in technology and social media, disciplines are merging and a new advertising world order is emerging. I believe the intersection of social insight, innovation and PR is the future for brands. I’m looking forward to hitting that sweet spot alongside the experts at Weber Shandwick.”

Adam Clyne commented “We have invested in a broad range of talent from across the agency spectrum and our offering reflects how audiences are consuming media and the fact that clients are seeking a more agile communications operation. James is a world-class creative and brings with him an unrivalled capacity to deliver campaigns that explode across the digital and media world”.

Nester is one of the few people to have delivered a TED talk about a marketing campaign and was behind the world’s first scale for measuring pleasure, developed for dark chocolate company Beyond Dark.

He has been recognised as the number one creative in the UK by the Big Won Top People Report.
