Weber Shandwick London’s Corporate Financial & Public Affairs (CFPA) practice and leading independent financial PR firm Tavistock today announce that they are entering a strategic partnership to facilitate client development across the two firms.
The partnership will see the firms market and promote relevant aspects of their joint offer, undertake joint pitches and refer work to each other where that will create the best outcome for the client.
Tavistock was founded in 1991, and has a team of 25 senior consultants, serving a wide range of listed and private clients from its base in Cornhill in the City of London. In London, Weber Shandwick was founded in 1974 by Peter Gummer; Weber Shandwick now has 300 people working from its base in the Prudential building at Holborn Circus, and is one of the largest offices within the firm’s global network.
Tavistock has a strong sector track record in TMT, real estate, cleantech, natural resources and industrials and has advised on £350bn worth of client transactions including the largest corporate transaction in history. Clients range from FTSE100 and FTSE250 companies to growth businesses on AIM and in the unlisted arena.
Weber Shandwick has an extensive UK-listed client base covering a wide range of industrial sectors. The firm has acted on transactions to the value of £18bn over the last two years.
Commenting on the agreement, Jos Simson, Tavistock’s Chief Executive said:
“Tavistock enjoys a strong reputation in the City and our trusted advice has seen us recently win two large mandates from FTSE100s. The partnership with Weber Shandwick creates a compelling offer for further prospective client opportunities where we can combine our respective skills sets. In addition, the partnership provides our existing clients access to a wide range of services that come from a global business of Weber Shandwick’s size.
“Tavistock is looking forward to working with Jon McLeod and his team to develop our growing businesses and to create new opportunities. Our combined teams will be able to offer a full public relations service suite in new areas of the market.”
Jon McLeod, Chairman of Weber Shandwick’s Corporate Financial and Public Affairs business in London and of the firm’s integrated Manchester office, said:
“We have spent over a year getting to know Tavistock as a business and looking to understand where we might add value to our respective businesses. We have been impressed by what Jos Simson and his experienced team can bring to the table.
“The strategic partnership enables us to disrupt the financial PR market by offering a meaningful alternative to the status quo, by joining forces where appropriate in our respective key strengths, by providing complementary skills, and by extending the geographic reach and critical mass we can provide to clients.”
