Weber Shandwick announces Steve Back as executive creative director in London

Weber Shandwick London has announced that Steve Back has joined as Executive Creative Director (ECD), with responsibility for leading the agency’s creative and production capabilities.

With over 20 years’ experience in advertising and production, Steve has worked with brands and businesses across multiple geographies and sectors. He joins Weber Shandwick from BBC Creative, having previously served as Chief Creative Office for Ogilvy Australia, Singapore and Global; Executive Creative Director at Saatchi & Saatchi Australia, and Creative Director DDB.

“We are hugely excited about Steve joining the team – his passion for great work that drives conversation and engagement was evident from our very first meeting with him,” said Helen Bennett, Managing Director of Weber Shandwick London. “We believe firmly that demand for earned creative solutions is only going to increase as clients look for agile, output-agnostic ideas to connect with their stakeholders. In Steve, we believe we’ve found someone with the proven talent, experience and instincts to help us meet that demand.”

Back’s remit will see him focus on bringing together the agency’s conceptual, production and creative technology capabilities to help realise high impact, insight-led work.

“I believe strongly that the best ideas come from a simple truth or insight,” said Back. “I’m excited to be joining one of the world’s leading communications agencies at a time when we are seeing such extraordinary shifts in brands and business behaviour. Weber Shandwick London has an impressive range of talents, specialists and capabilities – I’m looking forward to partnering with that talent to help deliver work that sets a new standard for earned creative.”
