Joe joined Weber Shandwick’s digital team in Manchester six years ago and specialises in developing in-culture creative content for clients across our entire portfolio – from food and drink to b2b tech. Outside of work, he is usually found with either a golf club or camera in hand.

In five words or less, how would you describe
your Weber Shandwick colleagues?

Creative, clever, caring, supportive, funny.

Describe Weber Shandwick’s culture in three words

Inclusive, collaborative, bold.

What’s the coolest (or weirdest) place a project
has taken you?

Place Vêndome in Paris, to host a global
client event – it was very boujee!

What’s the best thing you’ve ever seen happen
inside the Weber Shandwick offices?

Being part of a fully integrated team that
developed and launched #WRITENOW with The
Food Foundation and Marcus Rashford, a campaign
designed to ensure child food poverty was acted
upon by the Government in its Spending Review.

What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve
ever been given?

Being a generalist is no bad thing. There is
so much focus on specialisms (and yes, they are
important) but knowing a lot about a lot is
incredibly valuable in our industry.

Who inspires you and why?

My partner. She is amazing in many ways
but her resilience inspires me every day.

What does the ‘Era of Earned’ mean to you?

Authenticity – creating conversation by
bringing value and meaning more to more people.

What is the best thing you have learnt since
joining Weber Shandwick?

Not to discount my silliest/bravest ideas.
Turns out they can sometimes make the best
campaigns.

What’s the best opportunity you have had since joining Weber Shandwick?

The opportunity to connect with colleagues
globally, collaborate on projects, receive
mentoring and talk about common interests.

Name something new you have learnt since joining
the agency, that you didn’t know before

The meaning of ‘EOD’…

Also, to trust my own judgement. Senior colleagues
over the years have shown great trust in me, which
has helped me grow in confidence.

Describe a typical day at Weber Shandwick

Trick question, no two days are the same, so a
‘typical day’ is so hard to describe. One day
you’re collaborating on a creative proposal,
the next you’re solving a client issue or managing
a content shoot.

If you got a place on Access all Areas where
would you travel to and why?

Tokyo. I’d love the opportunity to experience
Weber Shandwick in a different culture, and the
Japan PR Agency of the Year seems a pretty great
place to do that. The city of Tokyo has always
inspired me creatively.
